THE UAE PRESIDENT CUP (UK ARABIAN DERBY) CONFIRMED FOR DONCASTER ST LEGER DAY

The Arabian Racing Organisation (ARO) is delighted to announce today that the UAE President Cup (UK Arabian Derby) will go ahead on Doncaster St Leger Day. The UAE President Cup is the oldest Purebred Arabian race series and it is fitting that it takes place on the same card as the UK’s oldest thoroughbred classic, the St Leger, which this year will be held on Saturday 12th September on Doncaster’s Town Moor course.

Run over a mile and a quarter, The UAE President Cup resumed its’ association with the UK Arabian Derby in 2016 and is exclusively for four-year-old Purebred Arabians. For three consecutive seasons it has been won by the winner of the French equivalent in Nafees, Rodess Du Loup and Hayyan. It would be no surprise if entries were to include recent French Arabian Derby winner Hattal, trained by Xavier Thomas-Demault for YAS Horse Management and HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, owner-breeders of last year’s winner.

Genny Haynes, ARO Commercial and Finance Director was thrilled commenting. “We were excited to welcome back the President of the UAE Cup in 2016 and we are proud that the race consistently produces a top-quality winner. We are extremely grateful to the UAE President Cup Series for their continued support of our feature race for four-year-olds and to Doncaster racecourse for their support of international Arabian racing. This race is now firmly established as part of St Leger Day, at Doncaster’s most prestigious meeting of the year which enhances the contest’s prestige and Arabian racing’s status in the UK.”
