Headed by first four home in French equivalent
Friday 5 July 2024 –
This year’s £80,000 UAE President Cup – UK Arabian Derby Group 1PA held at Doncaster on August 17 has attracted 15 entries. The mile and a quarter contest has been run at Doncaster since 2016 under the sponsorship of the UAE President Cup, the world’s oldest Arabian race sponsorship series, which this year encompasses 15 races around the world.
Nine entries are from overseas and include the first four home in the French equivalent last month, Muraad, Extra Time, Luwsail and Molfit. Winners of the Qatar Derby des Pur Sang Arabes de 4 Ans have an exceptional record at Doncaster winning every edition that they have contested, which bodes well for YAS Horse Racing Management’s Muraad, should the colt be declared next month. However there are five other entries currently rated over 100 and several others could improve between now and raceday including Fifre Al Maury who runs in the Central European Derby in Poland on Sunday – a race also supported by the UAE President Cup.
The domestic challenge includes recent winners Amirat Al Zaman and Fareedat El Izz (who has since been (Gr2PA placed), as well as Hadaaya who won at Lingfield on Derby Trials Day.

Genny Haynes, ARO Chief Executive Officer said, “ARO is delighted to receive so many entries from abroad, as well as some exciting young UK trained horses. This race consistently crowns a progressive top-level horse, with the last winner, Al Doha, going on to be runner up in the Qatar Arabian World Cup on Arc Day, as well as securing another top level win on her seasonal reappearance this year in Paris.
“We thank the UAE President Cup and Doncaster racecourse for supporting our racing this season and look forward to declarations on August 14, however we will welcome any supplementary entries up to noon on August 11.”
