TOP CLASS ARABIAN RACING RETURNS TO NEWBURY WITH THE GROUP 3PA UAE PRESIDENT CUP SERIES

The most valuable race for three-year-old Arabians in Europe

The Arabian Racing Organisation (ARO) was thrilled to be bringing top class Arabian racing back to Newbury for
the Group 3PA UAE President Cup Series on Friday 14 August. Held over the straight mile course, the £150,000 prize fund makes it the most valuable race for three-year-old Arabians in Europe.They are headed by Nehmo De Carrere, trained by Xavier Thomas Demeulte for Sheikh Khalaf Rabah Alshammari, who is unbeaten in his two starts at this trip. The son of AF Albahar was a clear winner of a Group 2PA on his latest outing at La Teste in June and will renew his successful partnership with regular jockey Guillame Guedj-Gay on Friday.

Elizabeth Bernard has declared the filly, Lella De La Gloire for Mohammed Alhuzami, as well as Hamed Khadim Butti Alhamid’s colt Eljas Du Bienn, who was supplemented at the weekend. Lella De La Gloire was a narrow winner of a fillies contest over a similar trip to this in April for her breeders before being sold to Alhuzami. Since then, she found the step up to ten furlongs too great in a Group 3PA at La Teste, dropping back to a mile should suit. She will be partnered by Mickael Forest.

Eljas Du Bienn, has a similar profile to his stablemate, as he was also a winning debutant over seven and a half furlongs. He was then runner up to a subsequent Group 1PA winner, to whom he since been third to in a Group 3PA at La Teste. He will be ridden by Antoine Werle.

Of four domestic possibles trained by Phil Collington, Amir Athbah, ridden by Jean Bernard Eyquem and RB Tryst, ridden by Sean Levey have been declared. Owned and bred by Athbah Racing, Amir Athbah has been placed twice, most recently on his first attempt at a mile on quick ground. KS Racing’s RB Tryst was only half a length behind him on their debuts, when she finished third over seven furlongs on the All Weather at Lingfield. Bred in the purple, she is a full sister to multiple Group 1PA winner at this trip, RB Rich Lyke Me.

This race for juveniles was originally run at Newbury over seven furlongs as the Dubai International Stakes, a race that produced many future champions. The 2012 was a vintage edition, with five future Group 1PA winners taking part. The race was won by subsequent 2015 Kahayla Classic winner, Manark, with Djainka Des Forges well down the field, however she later made amends to win the Arabian World Cup in 2014.Genny Haynes, ARO Chief Executive Officer said, “We are delighted to be hosting Arabian Group racing at Newbury again, thanks to the generous sponsorship of the UAE President Cup series. This is the first of two races that have received their support, the next is the £250,000 UK Arabian Derby held at Doncaster on St Leger Day on the 12 September.”
