Current Leader Board
Published 28th September 2010
The winner of the series will be the jockey who scores the most points across the series.
In the event of a tie on points, the jockey who has ridden the most winners will be deemed the winner. If there is still a tie, the number of 2nd placings, then 3rd etc, will be taken into consideration.
Rules 1. All the races will be ‘Hands And Heels’, meaning that jockeys will not be permitted to hit the horse with their whip either with the hands on or off the reins or wave their whip, except in circumstances where it is essential in order to avoid injury to another jockey, horse or other individual. 2. Every rider must carry a whip. 3. The whip may be pulled through from one hand to the other as often as necessary. 4. Any use of the whip will result in the intervention of the raceday Stewards. Any use of the whip considered by the raceday Stewards to be outside the exceptional circumstances stated above will be deemed improper riding. 5. Any jockey deemed guilty of improper riding in this way by the raceday Stewards will not be awarded any points for the race in which the offence occurred and will lose all points accumulated up until that stage in the series. 6. Any jockey found guilty of improper riding in this way will be permitted to continue riding in the series. 7. All jockeys are required to attend a mandatory course walk before racing which will take place at 12.30pm. All jockeys declared to ride in the race will be expected to meet in the Weighing Room at this time. Failure to arrive promptly for the course walk, without a valid reason, will result in a loss of 5 points in the series. Repeat offences may result in the rider being stripped of all points. If a jockey cannot make the course walk on any given day they are expected to contact Toni Newman in the ARO Office on 01635 524445 or on 07962 141798 on racedays to provide a reason why they cannot attend.
