ARO 2008 fixture:-
Adults cost £8 Raceday Preview By Paul Simmons
1st race The Weatherbys Handicap Stakes 0-60 over 6f A very competitive affair but with the ground likely to be riding on the soft side and speed being a premium there are several in with a chance. The selection is Plus, who has plenty of speed and has won several times over this trip. She was far from disgraced last time out in a higher class and can add another win here. Main dangers come from Trip To Khairo who narrowly got home from Sharka over this trip at Huntingdon and Benny The Dip who just got the better of a duel with stablemate El Hamsa over this trip at Wolverhampton last time out with Trip To Khairo, Sharka and Lingfield winner Unshooda all beaten.
2nd race The E-quester.com Open Race Championship Stakes over 1m 2f This Championship race will bring together some of the top TB’s in training with ARO this season including four time winner Son Of Sophie, who looks a good thing here. Marbaa was only ½ a length behind Son Of Sophie at Wolverhampton a few weeks ago and could challenge if up to form. Burnley has been coming close all season without winning and so has avoided a penalty here. Expect to see coming with a late run. Night Cap can perform well when given the race he wants but disappointed at Wolverhampton latest although a return to the turf may see him come back to form.
3rd race The Red Mills Handicap Stakes 0-95 over 1m 2f The selection is champion trainer Gill Duffield smart prospect Marsak who has yet to put a foot wrong this season. He won his maiden over this trip beating subsequent winner Billoube before chasing home Falak on Dubai Day over a mile and then stablemate Ejaabi over this trip at Newbury. Main danger is Noble Athlete who is in fine form this season winning over 7f at Taunton and also last month over 12f at Wolverhampton. Estival has been placed in all her starts to date (bar a below par effort on Dubai Day) including winning at Huntingdon over 12f and she is a course and distance winner having won the Jebel Ali Gold final here last year.
4th race The Jebel Ali Gold Final 0-80 Handicap Stakes over 1m 2f Likely to be a fast and furious race in this most competitive of handicaps. The selection is Bill Smith’s smart handicap winner Prukamzan who lost his maiden tag in some style at Huntingdon over this trip beating Secondwan and subsequent winner Roches Du Cayrou. Dangers come from Nenette who was narrowly touched off by Al Mamoon over 9f at Wolverhampton and was then third to Billoube over 9f again. She is on the upgrade and won over 7f at Fontwell earlier in the season. Roches Du Cayrou won well at Wolverhampton over 12f beating Debrett and he should be thereabouts.
5th race The Jebel Ali Silver Final 0-80 Handicap Stakes over 1m 2f Blu By You came back to form with a bang when winning at Wolverhampton over 12f, getting home from Notid and Pavot Al Kyle. He is progressing nicely and can take this event. Pinkie Tuscadero has run some great races in defeat including when 2nd to Pacific Way over 9f at Exeter and recent fine run when 3rd to Inshaad in the Breeders Cup and should be fighting out the finish. Pavot Al Kyle won earlier in the season at Wolverhampton over 8f and won this event last year; also Notid won at Hereford over 2 miles beating Debrett and Blu By You, he’ll be staying on at the end.
6th race The Shaw & Fox Anglo and Part Bred Championship Stakes over 1m 2f Curupanna can safely cement her crown as champion Anglo here as she has convincingly beaten this field several times this season. She slammed Madrison over 9f at Exeter on good to soft and safely dispatched L’Escalou last time out at Wolverhampton over a mile. Her main danger is former Champion Anglo L’Escalou who can never be discounted and has won at all trips from 6 – 10f and is effective on any ground and Madrison is top class and won this race last year.
7th race The Jebel Ali Bronze Final 0-80 Handicap Stakes over 1m2f Bonham ran a brave race in defeat in this race last year, when just touched off by CS Lafaz after a very successful season, with 2 wins and 5 places from 8 starts. Despite being inconsistent this year, he could take this given a return to form. Brigitta was improving with every run last season including when coming third in this race. She has been out of sorts and only ran twice at beginning of the season, if back to form she should be there at the finish. Lady Marisha won well over 9f at Hereford earlier in the season and she can get a place on her final run before the breeding paddocks beckon.
