Race Planning News Published 12th August 2011
The following changes have been approved by the Race Planning Committee:-
Salisbury, Sunday 4th September 2011
The 0-60 Athbah Stud Qualifier has been
extended to 0-60(65). Horses rated 65 will carry a
weight of 10st 12lbs. This race will be run over the same
distance (6f). The 0-90 over 7f has been increased to 0-95 over the same distance. All other races remain the same.
Stratford, Saturday 24th September 2011 A 0-75 over 12f has been introduced at this meeting. Please note 14f is not available at this Racecourse. The 0-160 Penn Qualifier over 8f has been increased to 0-170. This is to alleviate the potential for balloting in the Thoroughbred OH over 6f.

Older Race Planning News Published 17th December 2010
This year ARO has introduced a number of changes, not only to the Race Plan but also to the Race Planning Committee.
In 2010 the previous Race Planning Committee was disbanded to allow for the formation of a smaller working party (to include members from the ARO Board of Directors, the ARO Office, Handicapper & a nominated Thoroughbred representative). This Committee has complied the below programme and would like to invite feedback from members over the Christmas Period (please see below).
Important Points To Note: This year's Race Plan differs from any other drafted in previous years.
In order to create an equal number of opportunities for all bands of handicap rating, the following principles, put forward by a registered ARO Trainer at the last Race Plan Consultation, have been adhered to:-
1. Separate handicap bandings at any one racemeeting by a minimum of 15lbs 2. Introduce a reoccurring handicap pattern across alternate (fortnightly) fixtures E.g. 0-50 0-65 0-80 0-95 0-55 0-70 0-85 3. Incorporate floating or additional races where the reoccurring handicap pattern results in an insufficient number of races in any one band 4. Carry forward the above year on year
It is hoped that by adhering to the above, all levels & types of horse can be catered for in 2011. However, please note that with the increasing spread of horse population, in some instances, this may simply not be possible.
Member Feedback The RPC would like to thank ARO members for their feedback on the draft race plan.
